  Beaches

Stretching from Hillaries Boat Harbour down to Fremantle, Perth boasts a variety of beaches with crystal clear water, white sand, and attractive waves most of the year. All beaches include shower facilities and gas barbecues. Some impressions here...

Cottesloe Beach, arguably one of the nicest beaches on Perth’s Sunset Coast, speaks for itself:

  • It's the most accessible beach. Just catch the Fremantle train and get off at Cottesloe – you are almost in the water.
  • The Indiana Teahouse is simply a landmark.
  • Its pine forests define the coast line.
  • There's always something going on with bars, restaurants, and hotels right at the beach. Check out the Sunday Sessions in summer!

A place to relax, City Beach, has been established in 1928 by Perth specifically for recreational purposes. The beach is located in a quiet suburb and is favourite to the Perth people for its natural environment, relatively calm sea, and relaxing atmosphere. In the past, it was also the traditional spot for the 12:01 Xmas beach tour!

City Beach is only a 10 mins drive from the city center. It is served by the bus lines 85, 81; catch them right on Wellington Street.

Scarborough Beach, a 20 mins drive from the city, is most famous for its waves. No wonder, the Australian Life Surfing Championships take place right here. Especially in summer, you'll see plenty of surfers and wind-surfers &ndash or you'd like to try by yourself? Most surf courses come here for the practical part.

Placed in a busy area near the water, you'll find plenty of activity around the beach, from shopping opportunities to night life. Also, concerts have been hosted here.

Take the train (Joondalup Line) to Glendalough Station, and change there for the 400 or 408 bus service. The bus drops you off right at at the beach.

Further South, you'll find Leighton Beach, currently under development, and South Beach in Fremantle. Towards North, the Sunset Coast reaches out via Trigg Beach, North Beach to Hillaries Boat Harbour. And don't forget Rottnest Island!
